Who am I?
I prefer to think in terms of opportunities rather than problems. Having a thorough knowledge of what is possible means there is always a solution available for reducing even the most complex problem to an acceptable residual risk level.
I try to explain matters in a way as understandable as possible and present things clearly. Using my self-designed Excel applications makes a major contribution here. And, of course, you need a sharp analytical mind.
Dare to look beyond the solutions immediately to hand."
Expertise
From the very beginning of my career as an external occupational health and safety prevention adviser, I have worked mainly with manufacturing companies. As a result, my expertise has developed in the specialist areas that the sector needs most:
- advising on machine safety, for both risk analyses and commissioning existing machinery, as well as advice on the building of new machines,
- analysing tasks,
- drawing up operating instructions,
- writing internal traffic plans,
- training staff,
- investigating serious accidents.
I also support internal prevention advisers with their statutory tasks and will happily take over their function on a temporary basis.
I also teach at Mensura EDPB, UCLL (training levels 1 and 2: occupational accidents), UA (master’s degree in safety sciences: occupational accidents and dealing on the workfloor with workers who speak other languages). In addition, I supervise and mark students’ theses.
Expérience
After a period of time spent as an internal prevention in a construction company and a spell with insurance companies, I began working at Mensura in 2001. At that time, the risk management department was still a relatively new feature of our external prevention and protection services. I am proud that I have been able to contribute to the growth and development of this department.
