Even if you only replace a light bulb every now and then, or carry out any other electrical tasks, it is important to be aware of the risks. This e-learning course teaches you to assess the electrical risks.

Why?

You don’t need to be an engineer to replace a light bulb or switch a fuse. However, a small mistake can have unpleasant consequences. This e-learning course teaches you how to work with electricity safely and to assess the dangers correctly. Once completed, your employer can issue a ‘BA4 Informed Person’ certificate of competence.

Then it is strongly recommended that you complete the more extensive training courses ‘Working safely on electrical installations – BA4 Informed Person and Working safely on electrical installations – BA5 Competent Person'.

    For whom?

This online course is for anyone who occasionally wants to learn how to safely carry out small electrical work activities or who needs this knowledge for their job: technical instructors, cleaners, painters, shop staff, etc. This e-learning course is especially recommended for companies that need a certificate of competence titled 'BA4 Informed person'.

The ‘BA4 Informed Person’ certificate of competence

    What does the law say?

As an employer, you are required to issue a certificate of competence for each employee who comes into contact with minor and major electrical works and installations. You, the employer, can use these certificates of competence to demonstrate that your employees are capable of and have sufficient knowledge in working on or near electrical installations.

A certificate of competence for working on electrical installations has two levels:

    • BA4 Informed Person
This certificate applies to employees who could possibly come into contact with electrical installations but do not carry out work on these installations themselves. This means they must only carry out non-electrical tasks, or minor alterations under the supervision of a competent employee.
    • BA5 Competent Person
This certificate applies to employees who personally work on or with electrical installations, or who supervise works carried out by informed persons (BA4). Examples of competent persons are engineers or technicians.

As well as the training certificate for BA4 or BA5, it is also important that you – the employer – draw up a risk analysis for the electrical installation(s) in order to be able to issue a conclusive certificate of competence. At Mensura Learn and Connect we provide a training risk analysis for the electrical installation(s) either in Dutch or French
