Mensura and the University of Antwerp start strategic collaboration on data and research
The role of data in the health and wellness sector is increasing. The University of Antwerp and Mensura are therefore structurally joining forces for data analysis and research. The official launch of the collaboration will take place in the renovated Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen [Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp] on 23 November.
Mensura has been sponsoring the chair of “Sustainable Prevention and Welfare at Work” for safety sciences at the University of Antwerp since 2020. The institutions are now strengthening their bond, which links academic research to practice.
Dr. Gretel Schrijvers, CEO Mensura group: “Mensura and the University of Antwerp are no strangers. Various initiatives have been set up over the years in which we have joined forces. For example, as an external service we sponsor a chair at the Faculty of Safety Sciences; during the corona crisis we worked together to set up a study to test a vaccine; and one of our doctors is currently doing a PhD at the university.
The positive experience of joining forces has led us to wonder whether there is a future in a structural collaboration. And the answer is clearly yes. Data analysis and scientific research are an important lever for raising corporate well-being in Belgian organisations to a higher level.”
Scientific gold mine
Prof. Guy Hubens, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Antwerp:
“We are convinced that by working together as a university and external service we can create an important link between the scientific world and the business world. For example, Mensura has close ties with the port of Antwerp and the chemical sector and collects a great deal of medical data, safety figures, etc. This is a gold mine for scientific studies, which should allow us to act even more preventively and even predictively in a rapidly evolving field.
As players in the social field, we are pleased our strengthened co-operation will enable us to have an even more positive impact on life and work in the long term.”
